GOJI AND RAW CHOCOLATE!!!!

So these two foods are pretty.. well.. crap, on their own; together they are WWWOOWWIEEE GIMMMEE MORE PLES!
Well especially if you're the sort of girl who craves sugar like a mad..woman every month.

Now I have the facts as to why honey or an apple doesn't quite satisfy those annoying cravings!

Well.. from reading the back of this splendid packet.. Goji berries 'score' 25 300 on the ORAC scale (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity); I have just looked up this specific topic and the measurement is expressed 'ORAC units per 100g of a given food or supplement', compared to other foods like green tea-1686, or kale with a 'high' 1770, Goji berries blow it all away!
Sure, you may not eat 100g at any one time, but even just 5g gives you 1265! That's more than 100g worth of spinach!!!
'For their weight -- a daily serving is only 10 to 30 grams -- goji berries have more vitamin C than oranges, more beta carotene than carrots and more iron than steak'
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! :O more iron than steak.. more vitamin C than the orange and more beta carotene than carrots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No amount of exclamation marks can express how amazed I am by that!
Beta carotene is said to help fight heart disease, along with preventing(and in some cases curing) cancer and UV damage.
Goji berries contain all 18 amino acids (a complete protein), twenty one minerals, vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C and E and a superb amount of essential fatty acids.
They contain anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.
The seed oil of the goji berry stimulate blood circulation and help the skin metabolise, helps prevent premature aging and as stated above, prevents (and in some cases cures) cancer and UV damage. It hydrates the skin and helps reduce skin pigmentation and uneven skin tone.
Scientists are still researching the beloved goji berry so the may even more beneficial than we know!
The Goji berry on it's on has a mildly sweet taste, much like the flavour of sultanas.. however not as sweet but overall, better.

What else is in this fantabulous package?
Cocoa nibs. Pure, RAW chocolate.. before the addition of sugar and milk.. and guess what? On the ORAC scale it is a whopping 95 500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah.. you're as excited as me right?
That's what I thought. Now listen to this,

(and on my researching rampage I have sited confirmation on my PMS theory!
'It is estimated that between 50 and 70 percent of women endure some degree of period pain and cramping. Of those, approximately 10 percent experience contractions so extreme that they are one and a half times more powerful than labour pains.')

Raw cocoa helps dilate blood vessels which reduces blood clotting, it improves circulation, helps regulate heartbeat and blood pressure, lowers LDL cholesterol (the sort that is stored in arteries that is not produced by your body in the liver; LDL is the animal fat sort) therefore reducing the risk of stroke and heart attacks. It helps repair and resist damage cause by free radicals.
It increases the levels of specific neurotransmitters in our brain, promoting us to have a positive outlook. On top of that cacao raises your level of serotonin in your brain, therefore acting as an anti-depressant, helps reduce PMS symptoms and 'promotes a sense of well-being'.
The fabulous endorphins are stimulated by cocoa, producing that pleasurable sensation similar to that after exercise.
The same thing is created within the brain and is released when we are in love, it acts as a mild mood elevator and anti-depressant and also helps increase focus and alertness, it is the dyslectic's favourite name; Phenylethylamine.
Cocoa is rich in sulfur, calcium, iron, copper, potassium and manganese and contains essential fats that our bodies... find essential basically.
Magnesium is also present in raw cocoa nibs (these minerals(I'm guessing somewhat all?)are of course mildly found in any decent chocolate really.... just a heap more so in raw cocoa nibs), magnesium acts as a muscle relaxant and has shown to be beneficial with treating period pain and lower back pain. Magnesium has also shown to elevate sex hormones in both men and women, or at least is important in the production of these hormones.

So the taste.. Cocoa nibs are extremely bitter, are not at all sweet but still contain that delicious nutty after-taste a fine piece of dark chocolate has. however, to conclude all of this, if you put raw cocoa nibs and goji berries, other than the health benefits being ecstatically.. surprising, reassuring and.. brilliant! Each unique flavour when mixed together really gives the sensation that you really are eating chocolate! (Or more, chocolate chips due to the size)

They are two healthy, fantastically beneficial, rejuvenating foods that I tried for the first time last night (Though I think I have tried a few goji berries before, but only on their own so they were pretty un..tasteful)
So next time you're tearing apart your house in need for chocolate, or feel like your health is just falling lower than it should because you're just living on junk all the time, or you have the very unique 'disease' *rolls eyes* obesity; go get this mix, it'll really satisfy you, and you don't need much!
